Thanks Jon Snow

First snowfall - December 2016. The panel in front of the third camera is iced up making that look unavailable.

November Night

Tonight's image from the Cottage Camera includes the light on the spindle. Coming soon is a king tide and a supermoon. This camera might be the ideal one to use to capture both.

I Keep Saying I Am Going to Do This

Back at the blog after lo these many months. I put it on my list each week and it gets set aside like a bruised apple each week. Even today is going to have to be a very quick hit.

There are now four cameras in the Lantern Room of Scituate Light. They are of a very high quality. You can find them using the links along side. Once again I offer my thanks to the family of Hank Stahr for their wonderful contribution in memory of their dad. I love that camera and I have found that it works best when you log in with the new Microsoft Edge browser. The user name is viewer; the password is history.

The other three cameras may prompt you for a password the first time you visit. Once again the user name is viewer; the password is history.

Here are some sample shots.

The hope here is that I will get back to this and give you a month by month update since January. I have a ton of photographs to offer and a few stories to share.

September update

September saw the last of the open house dates and the introduction of some new cameras to the Cottage and the Tower. In a poignant image the flag can be seen at half staff in remembrance of those lost to the terrorist attacks of September 2001.

Busy August

August was dry, dry, dry. San Diego weather which had folks in a panic about the flowers. The perennials held up okay. Representative Jim Cantwell had some students here and that was a great treat. Family gathered round some new furniture. The temperature spiked for a set of days. 130 in the window will boil the birds. The annual Luminaria kicked off Heritage Days and it is always a treat to have Jack Foley come by. The Edgerton Bell was improved by some signage though the rocks it was wrapped with had to be removed when they began to be used to knock on the bell itself. No can do.

Amazing July

We added some signal flags to the cottage in July. Friends from way, way back visited. The gardens made it through a significant drought. Drones become an everyday event it seemed.  The July open house was a very busy fun day as we did it a little differently, emphasizing the runway exhibit over the artifacts in the Cottage.

Etrusco Memorial revealed

A great event in June as the Scituate Historical Society unveiled a memorial stone commemorating the work of the Coast Guard and the volunteer radio crew on the night the Etrusco came ashore. This memorial also gave the Society a chance to share a taste of the story of WRUL. This project was championed by the family of Jim Howard, Lynne and Gabe Crocker particularly, helped by Jim's good friend Bob Marchese. Funding came from Jim's friends at the direction of his family at his passing. The pictures show some of the steps in the process. More than 130 attended the unveiling and speakers included Tom Hall, Jim Keefe, Arnold Goulston, David Ball and Jeff Howard.

June - Complete with an amazing rainbow

June was full with field trips, a tribute to Elmer Pooler, an amazing rainbow wrapping the Light, more work on the gardens, complete with a Lawson rose in bloom, and some carpentry bringing the docks in the yard up to speed with the Boardwalk which had become a sensation. June also saw the midnight filming of a commercial for a new car dealership. Yes that is the keeper in uniform pointing to the sky in his television acting debut.

Puttering around in May

May was another full month. Former street signs got framed and mounted on the cottage. Work on the gardens continued. Its not every day you see a dog riding shotgun. The Edgerton Bell was given a facelift by our friends from Skylight Studios in Woburn. And the prom.
